Groombridge Log was originally supposed to be a comic. However, drawing the story turned out to be too cumbersome, but the prologue and chapter 1 were finished before burying the project in 2010. If you want to get a more casual introduction into the Star Control universe, you can read the comic by downloading the PDF (5 MB, 28 pages) from the following link:

Tommi Salminen wrote the script and drew the sketches, but as noted on the cover page, two other fellows helped to create this comic: Simon Marcoux inked the pages of the prologue and Javier Pardillo colored the pages of chapter 1.
